Dear Prospective Employer,
I am currently seeking employment in a managerial role with a reputable general contractor who self performs concrete work or a concrete contractor, and would very much appreciate your consideration.
I have thirteen years experience in the commercial concrete industry, ten of which have been in a management position. I started as a laborer on a placed and finish crew, and quickly learned the business and worked my way up.
I have installed footings in many soil types, and capped most every kind of pile imaginable, placed slabs from sidewalks, to large super flat floors using laser screeds, set tilt-wall from 20,000 to 220,000 pounds, and have an intimate knowledge of formwork, and I feel that my diverse background in concrete would be an asset to any contractor.
While I feel that I have a good deal of experience, I realize that I can never know it all, and constantly strive to continue my education in the field by attending industry related shows, seminars, and training. I look forward to learning something new every day.
I have managed up to fifty people at a time on one or multiple projects, which, I believe, has given me great skill in scheduling, time management, and job forecasting. It has also taught me how to interact well with varied personalities.
If you look at my resume, you will see that my career thus far has taken me around the southeast and , while family and a good home life are very important to me, I fully expect to have to travel to be successful in the building industry.
In closing, I believe that any successful player is only as good as the rest of his team. I am looking for an established, successful team to join, and if you think I would be a good candidate for your position, then I would greatly appreciate your consideration. Thank you.
